The growing generation of fruit and vegetable waste (FVW) presents considerable environmental challenges, while simultaneously offering a valuable opportunity for organic nutrient recycling. This study was carried out to assess the potential of enhancing fruit and vegetable waste compost through the addition of poultry manure and wood ash as nutrient amendments. Poultry manure and wood ash were added as enrichment materials to enhance the nutrient profile and physicochemical characteristics of the compost. The nutrient properties of the amendments were evaluated by measuring pH, electrical conductivity (EC), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and organic carbon (OC). Poultry manure demonstrated higher levels of nitrogen (3.10%), phosphorus (2.333%), and organic carbon (26.333%), highlighting its effectiveness in promoting microbial activity, compost maturity, and soil fertility. Conversely, wood ash showed elevated pH (7.683), electrical conductivity (2.267 dS m⁻¹), and potassium content (3.133%), indicating its role in enhancing soil pH and potassium availability. The results indicate that poultry manure is a more effective amendment for improving the nutrient status of compost, while wood ash is an excellent source of potassium and a liming agent. The synergistic application of these amendments has the potential to yield nutrient-dense compost with well-balanced physicochemical properties, thereby supporting sustainable waste management, enhancing soil fertility, decreasing reliance on chemical fertilizers, and promoting environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
