Strategy to Improve the Listening Behaviour and Extent of Participation of Sangham Community Radio Listeners

Abstract:

The research study conducted on listening behavior and extent of participation of community radio listeners in sangham community radio programmes in Medak district during 2009-10, involving 120 respondents from selected twelve villages. The results were extent of participation of community radio listeners in community radio programmes was very less and the listening behavior was also less in some community radio programmes. Data was collected on problems faced by community radio listeners during listening and extent of participation in community radio programmes and obtained suggestions also. Keeping these things in mind a strategy was developed to improve the listening behaviour and extent of participation of community radio listeners. The strategy includes the administrative, technical, financial and organizational strategies to be taken up by the Deccan Development Society(DDS) and the programme staff of the community radio.
