Abstract:

The Plant Croton sparsiflorus, Morong, was collected from different habitats and authenticated. Methanolic extract were prepared separately for different habitat plants for antioxidant and free radical scavenging assays. In the present study, activities of catalases, peroxidises, superoxide dismutases, acid phosphatases and total phenol content were increased in all the experimental plants indicates that, strong antioxidant activity against various environmental pollutants. The free radical scavenging assays using DPPH method providing spectacular results on free radicals. In contrary, nitrate reductase activity was decreased due to the rate of enzymes degradation in turn reduction in growth dynamics of plants. Thus, the methanolic extract of Croton sparsiflorus plants possess significant antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities that may be due to the phyto chemical content of the plant and as such make them potential candidate as natural chemoprophylactic agents.
