Abstract:

This study is conducted in Animal House Veterinary Hospital Laboratory in Kuwait stat. Therefore, the aim of the current study is to assess the seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis in cats. A total of 120 samples were taken randomly from the cats that visit the Animal House Veterinary Hospital and the collected blood is stored at -20C till transported to the lab for the laboratory analysis. The Immunochromatographic assay is used for the laboratory analysis to detect Toxoplasma gondii specific IgG, IgM antibodies. The obtained data is analyzed by using the descriptive methods by SPSS software. The main results for the Toxoplasma gondii (IgM) and Toxoplasma gondii (IgG) prevalence rate is 31.7% and 60%, the positive values is 38 and 72 and the significance values was 0.00* and 0.28. This research is recommended that to elevate of the peoples and cats owners’ awareness about this disease and its prevention methods to decrease the infection level and the conducting a national surveillance routinely to ensuring the success of the controlling plan.
