Management of Rice Weevil (Sitophilus oryzae L.) in Maize by Botanical Seed Treatments

Abstract:

An experiment was conducted at Seed Research and Technology Centre (SRTC), PJTSAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during 2015-2016 to find out the effect of botanical seed treatments against Sitophilus oryzae in maize. The storage studies revealed that seeds treated with Acorus calamus rhizome powder @ 10 g kg-1 seed had recorded highest germination percentage (85.67), seedling vigour index (2354), less infestation (0.18 per cent) and weight loss (0.02 per cent) at the end of nine months of storage.
