Abstract:

Knowledge on floral biology is important for crop improvement programmes or for commercial cultivation or for amateur growing. So, study of floral biology is an essential prerequisite for fulfilling these goals. Study of floral biology of available varieties of Catharanthus roseus was done in Ludhiana condition. Flowering parameters and behaviour were documented for getting deep clear insight in this study. As this is one of the important medicinal plants having anticancer properties so this study can also help further in improving the quality of raw material to support the Indian system of medicine and to meet the export need to western countries. The tropical flowering plant Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) (L.) G. Don. is an important medicinal plant of family Apocynaceae. It is cultivated mainly for its alkaloids, which are having anticancer activities
