Abstract:

An extensive field survey conducted on its host ranges revealed that mango mealy bug (Drosicha mangiferae) was invariably found on variety of cultivated fruit and vegetable crops as well as on wild host crops growing in and around the fruit and vegetable crop ecosystem. The studies revealed that more than more than 37 host plants from 24 families were infested with four species of mealy bug. Studies on biology and duration of various life/developmental stages revealed that total period of activity of female on an average was 125.5± 10.17 days and Male 110.5 ± 10.01days. The eggs laid in the soil cracks and crevices remained in diapause from June to the next season in January.
