Abstract:

This study explores the antibacterial potential of Moringa oleifera, a medicinal plant widely used in traditional pharmacopoeia. Leaf extracts of Moringa oleifera have demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity against several pathogenic bacterial strains, including multidrug-resistant bacteria. The results indicate that this activity is primarily attributed to the plant’s richness in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and isothiocyanates. In addition to its antimicrobial effects, Moringa oleifera also possesses antioxidant properties, further enhancing its relevance in the development of alternative therapies in response to the global antibiotic resistance crisis. The study highlights the importance of continuing research to isolate and characterize the active molecules, in order to promote the pharmaceutical valorization of this promising plant.
