Abstract:
In order to evaluate the efficiency of various extractants used in different countries, in the present investigation five extractants were used namely distilled water, neutral normal ammonium acetate, 0.01M CaCl2, 0.1N HNO3 and a method called quick test K (QT - K), involving ammonium acetate as an extractant. Depending upon the soil type which contained varying levels of K fractions, the levels of K applied and the type of extractant used, the quantity of K extracted varied.
