Abstract:

The field experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. There were sixty treatment combinations comprising of five sowing windows viz., 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26thMW and four varieties viz., VDN-3-51-18 (Indrayani), VDN-99-29 (Phule Samruddhi), IET-13549 (Bhogawati) and RDN-99-1 (Phule Radha). The gross and net plot size were 3.60 m x 3.60 m and 3.00 m x 3.00 m, respectively. The periodical observations on growth, micrometeorological parameters and yield contributing characters were recorded to assess the treatment effects. Sowing of kharif paddy during 24th MW improved all the growth components viz., plant height, number of tiller plant-1with yield component viz., length of spike, number of spikelet plant-1, number of grain plant-1, grain weight
plant-1, test weight, grain yield and straw yield which is at par with 25th and 26th MW respectively. The highest grain and straw yields and harvest index were recorded during sowing of paddy in 24th MW which is at par with 25th and 26th MW. The highest grain and straw yields and harvest index were recorded with the variety VDN-99-29 (Phule Samruddhi).
