There has been a tremendous increase in fish production, from 1.58 lakh tons in 2000-01 to 3.27 lakh tons in 2017-18. The state has shown a 2.06 times increase in fish production from 2000 to 2018 but couldn't satisfy the consumer demand for fish and imported 11,357 tons of fish from other states. A 3.05 times increase in fish seed production from 2000 to 2014 has been noticed.
