Understanding the Effect of Climate Change on Temperature and Precipitation in Sirmaur District of Himachal Pradesh

Abstract:

In this study, we analyzed the long-term changes in temperature and precipitation in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh to understand the climate change impact on regional weather. Current (2001-2010) and past (1984-2000) climatic scenario revealed that the region has experienced increase in maximum and minimum temperature. Temperatures in different seasons of the year viz. winter, spring, summer and autumn have shown increasing trends, whereas the precipitation in the form of rainfall decreased except in autumn season.
